New to Head of Year – Taking Your First Steps Towards Becoming an Effective Head of Year!
Alban Education are delighted to be offering a new programme for teachers moving into the Head of Year role.
This will take place over two sessions; one face to face session to be held at Katherine Warington School followed by one online session as follows:
Session 1: Thursday, 17th October 2024 – 4pm-5.30pm at Katherine Warington School.
Session 2: Thursday, 7th November 2024 – 4pm-5.30pm live online.
£49 to include both sessions.
Who is this course for?
Suitable for those who are new to the role of Head of Year.
What are the objectives or outcomes?
- To offer practical advice for those new to the role including building a positive and inclusive year group culture
- To examine the role and the complexity of it and how to excel at it
- To provide advice on the day-to-day management of the year group including data analysis, leading meetings and difficult conversations
- To provide a networking opportunity for schools to collaborate and share best practice
Meet the facilitator
Bryony Stockwell, Head of year 11, Katherine Warington School
Bryony has 17 years of teaching experience and has served as Head of Year for 10 years. She has worked in four secondary schools, three of which are in Hertfordshire. Although her primary teaching background is in History, she has taught various Humanities subjects over the years.
Bryony has held several leadership roles, including Associate Assistant Head and Transition lead and recently established the History department at Katherine Warington.
Her passion for supporting students motivated her to become Head of Year. This role has given her extensive knowledge and experience, which will be invaluable in delivering this course. She understands the importance of fostering the right culture as a Head of Year. Over the past year, she has been completing her NPQ in Leading a Behaviour Culture.
Bryony looks forward to supporting those who are new to the pastoral role.
