Early Career Framework
The Alban Teaching School Hub is delighted to deliver the Full Induction Programme for the Early Career Framework.
What is the Early Career Framework?
From September 2021 the government is funding an entitlement for all early career teachers in England to access high-quality professional development for the first two years of their career to support teacher support and retention. The DfE recommends that schools complete the Full Induction Programme with their local Teaching School Hub. Please note that only the Full Induction Programme offers additional funding of 36 hours of backfill time for each ECT Mentor.
All ECTs and their respective mentors will need to complete the ECF programme for a minimum of two years, and this will be quality-assured by the Appropriate Body, who will need to be satisfied with the quality of the induction programme to grant induction to ECTs employed in any school or phase, including Early Years. Unlike the Core and School-Based induction options, the Full Induction programme does not demand any further quality assurance costs by the Appropriate Body, as it has already been quality assured by the DfE.
For ECTs starting during 2022-23
We have decided to change delivery partners for ECTs commencing their induction for the academic year starting September 2022 and we will now work with Best Practice. It is essential to change to Best Practice by following the below procedures.
*Please note that ECTs moving into Year 2 will remain on their EDT programme for their final year.
*Mentors who have completed their ECF training with EDT will not be required to complete new training with our provider as it follows a set framework. However, Best Practice will offer a suite of mentor support sessions if required. Mentors will be able to work across both platforms for 2022-23. From September 2023 all ECTs will be on the Best Practice programme.
- For all new registrations please follow this link which will also be shared with you by email by the DfE anytime from Tuesday May 10th. Please select the options shown in the screens below.
- Your school will need to select ‘yes’ to indicate that they wish to change their current training provider.
- You will then need to select the top option of the four options provided – this will read ‘Leave EDT and use a different provider’.
- You then just need to confirm the decision via the ‘confirm’ button
- From here your school will be unlinked from both partner and provider for the new cohort only.
- Your school will then need to register with Best Practice via their school registration form found here: https://ccms.bpnsystems.net/ecf_application/
- You then need to simply select Alban TSH from the drop down.
Can I register for both the Appropriate Body and Early Career Framework with the Alban Teaching Hub?
Yes. Where possible we encourage you to sign up for both services. The only exception is for ECTs who gained their QTS with our ITT provider at Alban Federation. They will need to complete their AB work with another provider.
