Appropriate Body Services – Registration of ECTs
Schools are required to register their ECT with an Appropriate Body, on the DfE service (RECT) and the Training Programme Lead Provider.
STEP ONE: Appropriate Body Registration
All schools are required to register their ECTs with an Appropriate Body for statutory induction.

STEP TWO: DfE service Register Early Career Teachers Online Service (RECT)
All schools are required to provide information to the DfE regarding their chosen ITTECF-based training programme and Appropriate Body, ECTs and Mentors. Please click here for RECT. To access this service, you will need to use DfE Sign‑in. If you don’t already have a DfE Sign-In account, you will need to first create an account and request access to your school and then access to RECT.
STEP THREE: Training programme lead provider
All ECTs and their mentors, must be registered as part of their Early Career Teacher Entitlement (ECTE). Our provider is the National Institute of Teaching.

Registration Deadline Dates
Schools must register by the following dates to ensure induction can commence promptly:
- For Summer term 2026 starters: 18th September 2026
- For Spring term 2027 starters: 15th January 2027
- For summer term 2027 starters: 23rd April 2027
In most circumstances Alban TSH Appropriate Body will commence induction for an ECT from the beginning of an academic term. Schools are advised to contact us directly for guidance regarding mid-term starters.
