Middle Leadership Ready! 2021-22

Alban Education and the Training Centre at Aspire are delighted to bring to you a new four week programme providing essential skills for outstanding middle leadership.  This will be cross-phase with specific primary and secondary facilitators every session allowing delegates to benefit from tailored training specific to their individual setting.

What are the objectives or outcomes?

This programme will support you in:

  • Reflecting on your personal strengths
  • Developing skills of leadership
  • Exploring your own vision and values
  • Drawing together theory and practice
  • Sustaining effective leadership

Who is this course for?

  • For colleagues new to middle leadership roles
  • For colleagues moving to middle leadership roles
  • For aspirational middle leaders

Twilight sessions will take place, face to face, (two at Sandringham School, two at another hub school nearby tbc)  from 4.00pm to 5.30pm as follows:

Session 1 Thursday, 19th May 2022 Management or leadership? Understanding leadership styles
Session 2 Thursday, 26th May 2022 Leading effective meetings and managing people
Session 3 Thursday, 23rd June 2022 Application of data (including tracking SEND data)
Session 4 Tuesday, 5th July 2022 Coaching and unlocking potential

Meet the facilitators

Fleur Baikie, Head of MFL, Sandringham School

Fleur is Director of Learning – MFL at Sandringham School.  She has previously worked as Head of MFL and then IB coordinator (Senior Leader for the Upper School – 6th form lead) in an International School in the UAE and is passionate about staff development.  She a leadership mentor and programme facilitator with Best Practice Network, delivering the NPQLT and has completed the NPQSL. She has trained and coached teachers and leaders across a variety of pathways.

 

 

Lyndon Evans, Executive Principal, Aspire Academies Trust

Lyndon Evans is an Executive Principal with Aspire Academies Trust. Lyndon has extensive experience of leadership at the highest level. He is an experienced, qualified executive coach, mentor and programme lead facilitator with Best Practice Network, delivering on NPQH and NPQEL. Lyndon is passionate about working alongside those whose job it is to ensure the very best possible outcomes for children.

ECT Subject Specific Enhancement MFL 2021-22

We are keen to ensure that all Early Career teachers have the opportunity to develop networks of subject specific enhancement to supplement their work on the Early Career Framework.  This training is open to all ECTs regardless of their ECF provider; we aim to be able to provide strong subject specific networks across our region.

The subject specific enhancement programme for MFL will all now be delivered as face-to-face sessions as below:

  • SESSION 1: Tuesday, 23rd November 2021 at Roundwood Park School
  • SESSION 2: Tuesday, 22nd March 2022 at Sandringham School
  • SESSION 3: Tuesday, 7th June 2022 at Roundwood Park School

Areas of Focus

Three sessions providing essential subject specific support in Year 1 of your Early Career journey.

Session 1:  Skill progression at KS3

Session 2:  Blended Learning in the MFL classroom

Session 3:  Stretch and challenge at GCSE

Laura Davies, Head of MFL, Roundwood Park School

Laura is a Head of MFL at Roundwood Park School.  She has been a Professional Coach at the school since 2011 and has shaped the development of a coaching culture at Roundwood Park School.  She is committed to her MFL outreach work in her role as an SLE and leads the ‘Second Specialism Training’ for secondary teachers in the area.  She believes that coaching skills are key to developing staff at all levels.

Fleur Baikie, Head of MFL, Sandringham School

Fleur is Director of Learning – MFL at Sandringham School.  She has previously worked as Head of MFL and IB coordinator (Senior Leader for 6th Form) in an international school in the UAE and is passionate about staff development.  She is a coach and has trained several trainee teachers across a variety of pathways.
