Appropriate Body Services – Registration of ECTs
Schools are required to register their ECT with an Appropriate Body, on the DfE digital service and the ECTP Lead Provider.
STEP ONE: Appropriate Body Registration
All schools are required to register their ECTs with an Appropriate Body for statutory induction.

Registration Deadline Dates
Schools must register by the following dates to ensure induction can commence promptly:
- For Summer term 2026 starters: 24th April 2026
In most circumstances Alban TSH Appropriate Body will commence induction for an ECT from the beginning of an academic term. Schools are advised to contact us directly for guidance regarding mid-term starters.
STEP TWO: DfE digital service
You now need to register your ECT and their nominated Mentor on the DfE digital service, which can be accessed by clicking here.
STEP THREE: ECTP Lead provider – National Institute of Teaching (NIoT)
Complete this form. It connects you with us and our lead provider, NIoT.
