To support the introduction of the early career framework, this webinar will look at the changing role of the Induction Tutor. The induction tutor requires a focus on overseeing all progress reviews and formal assessments and is a discrete role from the ECT Mentor. This webinar will give guidance on the new requirements of the Induction Tutor.

The Role of the Mentor for ECTs from September 2021

To support the introduction of the early career framework, this webinar will look at the changing role of the Mentor in supporting their assigned ECT.  The session will primarily look at the requirements around meeting the entitlements for ECTs and how to lead effective mentor sessions. Mentors will be instrumental in discussions with their ECT around all aspects of pedagogy covered in the ECF.

Meet the facilitator

Tessa Miles is Director of Professional Learning at the Alban Teaching School Alliance. During her career, Tessa has held a number of roles: Head of History, Head of House, Head of Faculty and Professional Learning Mentor. She was awarded AST status in 2008 and has since used her skills and knowledge to support NQTs in Hertfordshire as well as colleagues in her own school to develop their teaching and learning strategies.
