ECT Year 1 Subject Specific Enhancement PRE 2022-23

We are keen to ensure that all Early Career teachers have the opportunity to develop networks of subject specific enhancement to supplement their work on the Early Career Framework.  This training is open to all ECTs regardless of their ECF provider; we aim to be able to provide strong subject specific networks across our region.

The subject specific enhancement sessions for PRE will take place at Roundwood Park School as follows:

  • Tuesday 21st February 2023
  • Wednesday, 7th June 2023

Areas of Focus

Two sessions providing essential subject specific support in Year 1 of your Early Career journey.

Session 1: Misconception – the does and don’ts in PRE

  • Understanding the challenges in teaching PRE
  • How to develop challenge and depth
  • Knowing the misconceptions and sensitivities

Session 2: Magpie and Try

  • Take away teaching ideas
  • Taking risks and being creative
  • Technology in PRE how to enhance lessons, learning and marking

Gemma Harvey, Subject Leader for PRE, Roundwood Park School

Gemma is an experienced teacher who has worked as a PRE specialist for 25 years and has experience in different teaching environments and roles. She is currently working at Roundwood Park School where she is Head of PRE and is also part of the teaching and learning team running training and INSET.

ECT Year 2 Subject Specific Enhancement PRE 2022-23

As a continuation of the ECT subject specific enhancement programme delivered last year we are keen to provide a one-off session for year 2 ECTs.   We will then provide details of a subject specific network you can join across our region to give you the opportunity to stay in touch with other like subject colleagues.  This training is open to all ECTs regardless of their ECF provider.

The subject specific enhancement sessions for PRE will take place at Roundwood Park School as follows:

  • Tuesday 1st November 2022, 4pm to 5.30pm

Area of Focus – Marking, Moderation and More

  • Tips on GCSE and A Level Marking
  • Strategies to support students in writing exam answers
  • Strategies for marking loads and feedback
